Gadchiroli ‘yatra’ workshop

Gondwana University, Gadchiroli, where CGNet is holding the yatra preparation workshop

CGNet has come to Gadchiroli, Maharashtra to prepare for the next educational yatra that will leave on the 15th December. This time around, the yatra will have two teams – one in Hindi and one in the adviasi Gondi language – and will be on the road for two year and will try to cover as much of central India as it can.

Introduction meeting...with songs!

We are using the Gondwana University in Gadchiroli as a base. This new college, unfortunately, does not yet have a permanent faculty to staff it but, luckily for us, that does mean we are free to move in for ten days and use its facilities.

We have invited potential yatra volunteers along with some familiar faces from last time around. Hopefully, from this group we build two effective and enthusiastic teams that will be happy to devote their time to teaching people about CGNet. Around 50 people have come from all over India: Mandla District MP; Narayanpur Chhattisgarh, from here in Gadchiroli; we even have a few guys from a theatre company in Bangalore who are interested in participating.

Another picture from the introduction meeting

Today is spent with introductions. One of the first things everyone does, delightfully, is split up into teams to write a song about CGNet!

Yatra wouldn't be the same without a little fun
