Welcome Home Yatra team!

The CGNet team celebrates a successful tour!

For the past two months a group of actors, puppeteers, singers, musicians and social workers have been traveling through Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in a cultural Yatra (like a traveling festival) to spread the word about CGNet among the isolated communities of central India. Yesterday we welcomed them all back to Bhopal in a ceremony held at Ghandi Bhawan.

Mango the puppet has been making people laugh across India for months now. He was made by celebrated puppeteer Ram Lal
The audience was treated to a selection of the songs and performances designed to engage people and educate them about the mobile citizen journalism services provided by the CGNet organisation. Those in attendance included members of the Bhopal social work community and Shravan, the editor of the Nai Dunia newspaper.

The yatra is an important tool in reaching the residents of remote villages. Often without access to conventional media that is common in the cities (like newspapers, radio or the internet), the yatra provided the kind of direct interaction that is vital for explaining the system and giving people the confidence to use it.
